Socks And All

What is up with my girls waking up at o'crack-of-dawn-thirty? Helloooo...it's SUNDAY. This morn both girls were up and rearing to go at 6:53 a.m.! On school days I usually wake them up at 7:05 a.m. and it's like pulling teeth to get them out of bed (I'm sure you know the drill)! I first go in and gently tell them to wakey-wakey. Go make my bed. Go back turn on the hall light and tell them...wake up, sweeeetie piiiiies. Little kisses on the cheekies. Go feed the cat, brush teeth. Go back and turn on their lights in their room. Get up. Now. Ooooooh...and the rest of the morning is full of slowness and grumpies and socks that don't fit. I know there's a God, cuz every school day morning it takes a miracle to get my girls out the door (You CANNOT wear flip flops to school!). There is always major drama happening in those 45 minutes before we are out the door. Spilt milk. I've made the wrong flavored pop tart. Someone is always crying (Fine! Wear the flip flops!). Always.

But on the weekends, the days where we can get that bless-ED sleep, they are rearing to go well before 7 a.m.. Socks and all. They are the best of friiiiiends. They understand the concept of sharing things. Kind words. They make their beds. They make their own breakfast and manage to not spill the whole gallon of milk. They brush each other's hair. It's bliss. For them. I can't quite wrap my tirED brain around it. On school nights I'm crazy about getting them to bed at 7:30 p.m. I have hit the wall well before then and I turn into a werewolf at precisely 7:31 p.m. Ask my hubby. But on non-school nights, we have movie nights, we play outside until it's dark. We have candy. I...don't...get...it. Ah well, regardless of my lack o' beauty sleep (there just are not enough hours in the night for that one anyway), my cheerful disposition, no one's crying. I'm not hating that.

E X A C T L Y !

During the school year I had to drag kids out of bed and now that school is over they are cheerfully up nice and early and all bright and sunshiney. Sure, I would rather have that than the bickering but someone needs to explain to me why I can't have it all.

Yes, we've been out one week and I already have a calendar marked off with how many days until it starts again. Well not really, because it sure is nice not HAVING to be anywhere!

OMG...I can't remember school mornings it was so long ago. One graduated in 1999 and the other in 2001...or is it I don't want to remember...just kidding!

It's so great that your girls are such good friends! We don't start school until 9 AM...how lucky are we?

Oh, yes I know this sooooo well. I love your werewolf analogy. I'm like that by 8:01.

I know what you're talking about, but in a different way. Saturdays are my one day to sleep in and this past Saturday, I was wide awake at 6:30 AM for absolutely no reason. Try as I might, I couldn't fall back asleep. Its so bizarre.

Oh I so thought my kids were the only ones who did this! School has been out for a week now and UGH!!! They are up by 6:30! SLEEP IN PEOPLE!

I totally agree with all of you! My kids are the same way. Other than the older ones they're rolling out of bed around 1pm during the weekends!

I remember being really tired in school and when the last bell rang...wow I'm awake, strange huh?

Or at work and feeling the same way!

Carrie--This is going to be the looooongest week! I think I'm more excited for summer break than they are!

Leezee52--ha ha...you've blocked it out! I fully plan on doing that. Just kidding. No I'm not.

Mrs. Romero--They can be the best of friends and the worst...it changes very, very quickly.

Heather--I've seen you around. It's nice see you here (I'm so excited!)! The werewolf analogy is pretty right on. :) Sad, but so true...grrrrrrr...

adiel--Truth be told, I actually like to get up before everyone else does...even on the weekends (it's true, it's true). I'm just grumpy cuz I don't get my way. It happens a lot. And it always seems like when you can/want/need to sleep in, those are the times when you absoluely cannot. Dang it.

Susan--((Grooooooan)) this is totally what's gonna happen over here too. Summer just means more hours of daylight to burn, right? They just get an earlier start! I may have to re-introduce naps. Yeah right. Who am I kidding?

careysue--I daydream about those teenage years! And then I slap myself silly, cuz what am I CRAZY?! My kids have to be 7 and 5 for a long, long, loooong time! I'll be blogging about how lazy they are cuz they sleep in until 1 on the weekends! Geez, you just can't please me! :)

And I remember having that sudden (wonderful) burst of energy after work too. That doesn't happen so much anymore. I think I'm gonna be tiRED forever now. :)

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS!!! I SO HAPPY!

came by the way of SITS. My kids are still in school until June 18. And we love putting socks on too. They try to leave with no socks and tennies because they can NEVER find any socks!! So I say, "GO to the sock basket and find some!!" Cute post thou.
